- WARNING! BIG FILE ON MY DA PAGE TO DOWNLOAD AND ENJOY!
I decided to draw up some tips for drawing girls, since I _think_ I know what I’m doing with them. A lot of peeps have asked for them, so here’s a bit. Will have a male one when I get really confident with the dudes (which i’m progressing nicely in that area), but for now, this will suffice.
Let me know if there are any questions you have or anything else you’d like me to show you that’s reasonable. But just remember that you have to learn and study for yourself to get the idea.
REMEMBER, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE STUDY RESEARCH PRACTICE!
- Using shapes for your gestures beats stick figure methods! Read this: [link]
- Draw constantly. Don’t look at what you’re working on, and study it! Learn why certain things connect the way they do, what muscles get tense in a position and relaxed, etc. Don’t just draw what you see.
- Come up with your own visual cues to help you “see” how a form works, like the McDonald’s Arches and Megaman Boot. You’d be surprised how easy it is for you to remember how something looks!
- With women, remember, dainty and curvy lines beats hard edgy lines! No matter the size of woman’s breasts or hips or proportions, these things always apply best: Hands with less lines, thinner fingers and smaller feet. Using line minimally also bumps femininity up if you’re not confident with what you’re doing yet. And curves always! Even on the straightest line, make it a bit curvy.
Hey guys! Save this! It’s crazy useful =D
Oh damn this is excellent. Female bodies are SO NICE TO DRAW weh
ok this ones funny bc its alwso just me fuckin around with lines till it looks acceptable
stop mkain me reveal what a lazy artist i am lmfao godt dangigt

For Anonymous, who requested more Male Anatomy related things.
There are quite a few male related anatomy items in the Art Resource but the search function is a bit persnickity at the moment. I will try and update this post as I get more references. If you’ve got any that I don’t have here, go ahead and put them in my Ask and I’ll update this post.
Kakimari’s Anatomy Dump - This one seems to be for the most part geared towards male anatomy. Everything you could think, legs, arms, feet, hands, necks, shoulders. A nice thorough study that’s really helpful!
Anatomy Study based on Steve Hampton - Some demonstrations on how to stylize anatomy, lots of masculine examples.
Manly Butts - Can’t explain it better then that. Butts.
Manly Legs - Lots of studies of different leg positions.
Hands and Feet - Can quite easily be unisex.
Hands - Another hand reference which could be helpful.
Loomis - Andrew Loomis, basically the patron saint of Anatomy. All his books are here, including extensive male, and female anatomy.
How to Draw Beef - Everything it promises to be~ Aka: fantastic. Great references for muscles, different body types, ect.
Dicks - How could I almost forget all these cocks.
Feet - Feeeeet.
Neck and Shoulders - As it says, some nice neck and shoulder references.
Different Male Bodies - Good resource for a few different types of bodies that are still pretty aesthetically pleasing.
Good ref image. Shows how and where obvious jams can occur, and what you’d need to adjust to clear one.
swrrt jesus sexy
ooh damn, that is nice.
OMG WHOA good ref
I had never felt like this for a gun before
Why didn’t anyone make this sooner? I hate when people only use the word “said” in stories.
We talked about this tonight…
ALL OF THEM.
ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL OFFFFFF THEMMMMMMMMMM.
Yep. Look at all the words that you can use instead of ‘said’.
You may find it interesting to note that most professional editors/publishers prefer the use of “said” in many instances. That humble little word gets out of the way, while “orated,” “reciprocated,” and “beseeched” do not and tend to make manuscripts look sloppy/far too puffed up to take seriously.
That’s not to say that “giggled,” “muttered,” and “began” don’t have their places. It’s all a matter of balance.
Just saying, but you don’t need to fucking use said or a synonym most of the time. Unless they’re speaking in a certain way, or you need to specify who’s speaking, it’s pretty much useless.
“What are you doing?” Jane asked, leaning over John’s shoulder curiously.
“I’m doing my homework.” John replied, frustrated.
“What subject is it?” She asked.
“Chemistry.” He said.
“It looks pretty hard.” She said. She grimaced at the page.
“It really is.” He said.

How to tape up your hands before a fight
Whoa, this is cool.
((I wanna do this someday.))
Originally I drew this hand tutorial for my student group (The Animation Student Collective) at CCAD. I uploaded it to the ASC blog, and one of the followers of the blog sent the tutorial on its maiden voyage over to Tumblr. Consequently it was brought to my attention as to how popular it became on Tumblr, and so I’ve decided to post it to MY Tumblr so that it can spread further. I also want to put it here in case there becomes any confusion as to who originally made it. It’s mine. Bethany Craig’s. haaaa …. So, ENJOOOYYYY
